Vib Ribbon
« on: October 11, 2014, 09:36:36 am »
Just in case you missed it, Sony released the PS1 classic, VIB RIBBON, for PS3 and Vita this past week for around $6. This is the first time this unique cult classic is available in North America. And if you're playing on the PS3, it retains the ability to use your own music CDs to generate levels.

For the uninitiated: Vib Ribbon is a vector-graphic rhythm game where you hit buttons in time to the various shapes. It's from the same people behind the "Parappa the Rapper" series. While the game itself only includes six songs (which are fairly good), the ability to use your own CD's (PS3 only) makes the game play possibilities limitless.  It's a simple concept but it can get deceptively hard as you go along. It's delightfully weird and catchy.

If you have a PS3, I highly recommend picking this up. (And no, I'm not a shill for Sony. My own unpaid opinions present here.)

Yeah I was thinking it'd look pretty nice on a vector monitor.

This looks neat.  Do you have an iOS device?  Try Russian Dancing Men if you haven't.  Basically the same  Similar game play with different graphics.

Except for using your own cd's.

Thanks for sharing.  I've been picking up a bunch of games on the PS# as of late and really enjoying them.  I might even have to grab one of the PSN+ sales at some point (is that worth it?)

I wasted quite a lot of drunken nights in university playing Vib Ribbon with mates to our various CD collections.  What an awesome game.

Have a go with some music from "The Prodigy".  Insane difficulty level! :)
