Salvaged Area 51 Site 4 cabinet/project
« on: October 02, 2014, 06:59:04 pm »
I salvaged this very solid Area 51 Site 4 cabinet from the recycle yard today. I didn't get to it before they tore the guts out of it but I did get it before they destroyed the monitor (prolly not working anyway), bezel, coin door, controls, glass, or guns.

I need a little creative help deciding where to go with this project? I know I don't plan to use the guns and just want to go with a simple MAME cabinet. It seems a bit narrow for many buttons so should I go with a single player or a tight 2 player? Thoughts??

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Since you don't plan to use the guns, any chance you wanna part with them?

There's a very good chance I'll be willing to part with them. What did you have in mind?

Also, does anyone have any recommendations on a replacement monitor? Keep in mind that I'm no electrician but I can get electrocuted with the best of em'! I'd really like to get a LCD or LED? It'd have to fit into a 24" inside dimension

Check this site out.

http://www.displaywars.com/

you can plug in two different screen sizes & aspect ratios & compare their dimensions to each other.

I noticed the same cab at my local bowling alley not working on the back room. I wonder if they will part with it. I think its a great project cab
