Help I cant get a signal from my 4890 Vapor-x 1gb to Sony PVM
« on: October 01, 2014, 10:51:03 am »
Hello, I have a weird issue with getting a signal from my PC to a sony pvm.

I had to leave My Core 2 duo with gigabyte 4890 Overclock version Interstate which I had working fine in windows XP with Crt_Emudriver as well as Linux Groovyarcade, so I bought another pc to play some old games again its a i5 with a 4890 vapour-x 1gb.

The issue I'm having is that I cant get a signal on any of my Sony PVM monitors with the DVI or VGA ports using a vga to bnc cable
I've tried 3 different PVMs 1 multisync and 2 other standard definition confirmed working on the other pc for this purpose, I've also tried 2 different VGA to BNC cables 1 cable confirmed working on my other PC. I don't get a boot screen or anything but when I plug in a HDMI cable into the DVI port using a DVI to HDMI adaptor a signal comes up straight away on my HD projector. Has Anyone got any ideas as to what the issue could be? could it be a Bad pin on the GPU that doesn't effect the HDMI cable just the VGA/BNC cable or possibly a bios setting? Im really hoping I don't need to buy another 4890. Any Help or opinions would be appreciated.

Hey guys, I thought id let you know I bought a HIS brand 4890 today and groovyarcade loaded up straight away no issues, just setting up windows 7 now with calamity's Crt_emudriver. I read the sapphire vapour-x 1gb has its own redesigned architecture I think that might be the issue but I could have bought a Dud, its strange how HDMI was working through the HDMI slot and the DVI slot. If anyone has success or failure with one maybe put a comment so others know, It cost me $100 to find out it didn't work.

Thanks Again Guys I've told a bunch of people in my games shop about this community and the software.

I had the same problem with radeon 9250.
When I discovered GM I bought a few radeons 9250 (AGP, for my old PC).
Turned out they didn't work, a old asus 9250 I had lying around worked perfect.

grtz
