Hyperspin suddenly crashing after removing external drive.
« on: September 25, 2014, 08:25:57 am »
Cross post from over at HS forums. You guys always seem to be more helpful though  ;D

I am having an odd problem.

On my PC, I have hyperspin, and all roms/files/art on my C drive. I had an external harddrive to this computer that I was using as "My Documents" and thus had my AppData folder on.

I have since moved the PC down to my arcade cabinet as I am preparing to finish my build, and left my "Documents" external drive upstairs with my new office computer.

As far as I know, that "Documents" drive did not have any files on it related or connected to Hyperspin in any way. However, since that drive was designated as a system folder in a way, Windows 7 has given me a "temporary user account" (no big deal, will fix this by just making a new account); but yet I am now having the following problem with HS;

Hyperspin opens fine. I currently only have a single wheel running, which is MAME. So it opens to mame. All videos/art/wheel art displays fine. I can scroll through games, select them, games open fine.

The PROBLEM is when I try to say, skip ahead by letter or sort by genre - HS decides to crash. Basically it just displays the MAME theme background, all wheel art and video or text disappears. I have to ALT+F4 out and restart.

Anyone else have experience with such a problem? I can try to provide screens if needed. Thank you!

EDIT1: Attached are screenshots of what I am experiencing. Note the the first image. As I scroll through games, the titles overlap each other (the screenshot you are seeing is just frozen, I cannot do anything but force close from here).

EDIT2: I tried setting it back to have the intro wheel with all my different emulators. I can scroll through the emulators, but when I try to select one, it just "resets" the screen (imagine hitting the back button while in a specific wheel, how it takes you back to the main wheel, looks like that).

Just wanted to update this problem as FIXED!

Did some searching around, finally found someone with a similar problem to mine. Even after a clean install of HS it was doing the exact same thing.

The answer was to INSTALL MY SOUND CARD DRIVER!  Weird, I know, but it worked. Everything is smooth now!
