Hello,
It's been a while since I've posted here. Doing some PC/software upgrades to my cab I built in early 2000's.
Running Windows 7 32-bit ultimate, with NEW: Gigabyte intel 1050 socket H81 chipset, 3GHz dual core intel cpu(lower end poss i3), 2Gb DDR3 RAM, Geforce BFG 260GTX video card, onboard sound.
Running MAME version .114
'Monitor' is a 25" RCA CRT TV using S-video input.
Have the Happ Super joysticks (x2) as well as one 4-way Happ that I got a good few years back (When Happ was just Happ controls not Suzo-Happ).
Happ 3" Trackball (with upgraded redboard PCBs) & an Oscar spinner going to an Opti-Pac (USB). Keyboard controller is a Hagstrom LP24 (PS2).
Did a few searches but most come up being about 4 way joysticks, the better ones to get etc...
Here's what's happening:
When I move around the maze (happens in Pacman & Ms Pacman & variants) the character seems to jump a few pixels as if not lining up with the maze pathways and a few times getting stuck to or closer to one side of the maze wall.
I've tried a PS2 to USB adapter for the LPT24 encoder but movement/lag is worse with USB.
Tried a Logitech and Microsoft gamepad (both USB) but problem still shows up.
It almost seems(but not sure) like a resolution problem or a resolution that my TV is set to is changing the maze somehow?
Wondering if anyone else encountered this problem or if anyone would be so kind to offer suggestions/ info on anything I could try.
Here are a few pics of the CP and 4-Way:
