Arcade Monitor blowing fuse (pictures included) [SOLVED]
« on: August 19, 2014, 11:58:26 pm »
Hey, I have an arcade monitor Phillips A51-582X with Chassis Centry 21 Electronic unsure of model number might be in picture below?
This monitor keeps blowing the fuse (boxed in red in picture below 3A fuse).
The monitor has worked in the past.

Steps I have taken so far-

I have disconnected everything from the power apart from monitor.
Disconnected the degaussing ring around screen.
Checked the 4 fuses on the chassis.
checked the 3 wires from mains to chassis with Multimeter

Looking for more steps I can take Thanks.

i am not familiar with that chassis BUT have you removed the power input chassis connector at any point  prior to the fuse blowing?

Hey, Thanks for your response I was only told when I bought the machine that it just blew randomly 1 day and they didn't know how to fix it.
1 thing I have noticed though is the N wire for the power input plug is missing or was never needed? and 1 of the E wires is connected to the N on the power input board.
Should I wire up the 2x E's to the E on the power board and the N to the N on the power board?

looks like it is wired up wrong to me
P should go to AC L
N should go to AC N
E should go to Earth

i think the plug is on back to front but you need to trace the wires to the transformer to be sure

Why not just flip the plug around? THat would get you all 3 connections wired up.

Before doing that, make sure they wires lead to the correct location on the wall plug first.

Hey Thanks for your reply.
I know the wire on the right of the plug "P" connects to the "P" on the power board.
Good point will check the wall plug wiring first.
Will update you guys tomorrow. Thanks.

So what did you do to wire it correctly?

It helps to post the solution so if someone runs into this in the future, a search will turn up the post which includes the solution.

No problem the Solution - I matched up the 2x E to E from power to Monitor chassis.  and added a new wire for N to N.
(You can see the these letters in the last picture of the original post)
