Old video card with new?
« on: August 17, 2014, 05:28:19 pm »
Hey guys... looking to build a vpin.  Got most of the computer parts and am wanting to do a 3 screen setup (playfield, backglass, dmd).  I would like to re-purpose an old video card and small flatscreen tv for the dmd.  Here's the question, can I install my old video card in the slot beside the new (not sli/crossfired or anything like that, just use the new one for the playfield and backglass, and use the old one for the dmd screen)?

Here is the new video card: Asus Geforce GTX660
Here is the old video card:  Asus nVidia GeForce4 MX 128Mb AGP
The motherboard:  Asus P8B75-M/CSM

And would it hurt anything to just install it and test it out?  Thanks for the help!

Um, that board doesn't have an AGP slot.   So, no, you can't.  An MX4 is older than dirt nowadays anyways and your gtx660 can probably do three screens at once.

that board has onboard video. you could run your "dmd" off the integrated video and your playfield off the GTX.

make sure you setup in the BIOS to initialize the PCIe graphics before the integrated graphics so you don't run into performance issues later.
