Need Help Updating MAME 147
« on: July 07, 2014, 07:47:39 pm »
So I have MAME 147 and the ROMs on it on my machine at the moment, and as I have read and experienced, the Midway games are not good.  I see that getting it to 147 updates 1, 2, and 3 should fix it, or I imagine getting it to 148 will as well.

The problem I have is that I know this is an older version and I am trying to learn via old posts and bits and pieces of various threads, but when I come up empty I have to ask here (sorry!).

I want to do this as easily as possible without, if I can help it, updating the ROMs.  I will in time, but for now, I want to have it up and running for the 147 stuff as much as possible.  Two issues:
- Can I update to 148 without having to go over all the ROMs again, or if I must, do you know if the file sizes are huge?  I have a 256MB flash stick I'm running between the gaming machine and this one and was hoping to not have to buy another.

- If it is easier to just update 147 to updates 1, then 2, then 3 (I do see I have to do them in order), do the files still exist anywhere?  I googled the file name with no luck and MAME website itself does not have the older updates anymore.

Thanks!
