emulators not saving control configurations
« on: June 25, 2014, 01:35:14 am »
Ive searched and searched and havent seemed to find any info on this so i thought id ask

im using snes9x and it will not let me save my inputs.  Ill go and configure them and then close the program only to find that i have to reconfigure them everytime i want to play a game.

ive noticed this problem with kfusion as well and also with my neo geo emulator.

is there a way to fix this?  are there alternative emulators to use that save your input settings?

 :dunno

any help would be appreciated

D

Off the top of my head, are the files marked as "READ ONLY"?

This is when you run the emulators by themselves without a front end?
....or are you using a front-end or other program that messes with your settings?

im using maximus arcade. but this all happens when i run the emulators outside of the frontend.  dave im talking about the emulator itself is not saving the input settings when i close the program.  it always goes back to its default settings.

Yeah, same deal.  Are there like config or .ini files in the emu's folder that are not saving the new settings because they're read-only for whatever reason?

It may be a windows permission issue, windows may stop the program creating the ini file. try running in compatibility mode or run as administrator and keep the emu folder open while running the emulator to see if the .ini appears and then disappears.

i got to thinking about what you guys said and realized i wasnt running snes9x from c: i was running from d: which is a partition of my c: drive.

so i copied and pasted everything to c:  and snes9x saved my configurations

but my emulator for sega kfusion isnt saving them, however i just found a different emulator that does.

my new questions are this.  should i run everything from c: ?  do i need to partition my hd at all?

I run my emulators from D: and all just save their setting just fine. I have both snes9x and kfusion besides MAME and a whole bunch of other emulators.

thats interesting, well it seems to be the fix for my issue thus far.  i was thinking about running everything on c: since i only have one hd(160gb)

right now i have it into 2 partions c: which is 30gb with xp  and MA as my frontend and D: with all my roms.
