Harvesting a desktop
« on: June 23, 2014, 06:05:32 pm »
One of the legs broke off an old desk that I bought my wife.  As I eyeballed it with an eye towards a trip out to the dump I noticed that the desk top itself was in remarkably good condition.  Then I looked a bit at the size and dimensions.  It looks like enough wood there to maker at least a few small controller boxes.  Should I harvest this wood and make a controller or take it to the dump?

I'm a huge fan of re-use and re-cycle.  If it looks like good wood, use it.

Re-using the wood is an awesome idea but is a challenge based on how it's finished and whether you're okay with laminate finish, etc.

Reminds of the "Ping Of Pong" cabinet, and that turned out pretty great.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Starting this weekend.  Thanks for the advice.
