Rayman
« on: May 18, 2014, 10:44:42 pm »
Any fans of Rayman here?  What is the most suitable version of Rayman to stand while playing?  The iOS version was just great.  Anyone playing Rayman on their cab?

The Wii U/360 versions are very simple and such, they should be on steam, but quite honestly it's a platformer.  Platformers are better on consoles, especially twitchy ones like Rayman.  It kind of reminds me of trying to play Megaman on a cab... you can do it, I'm not sure why you'd want to though.

Have never actually played it, but it's been on my radar forever.
I was hoping you were posting a deal.  :lol

I bought Rayman Legends from Steam a while back when it was on sale.  (Head over to http://www.steamgamesales.com/ and check prices often to get a deal.  It will eventually go on sale).

The game itself is great!  But be warned, if you have an arcade monitor set up with funky resolutions it has trouble working.  I have a Betson Multisync with Soft15Khz running and although the demo worked perfectly, the retail version DID NOT.  (I was able to force resolutions through and XML file in the demo version, but for the retail version it will not work).

I played around with different resolutions and figured out that the resolution you need for it to run MUST be running at 60Hz for it to work properly.  My cabinet was set to 30Hz which is why it would not work.  I ended up using Powerstrip to add the resolution @ 60Hz and now it works properly.  It's that only game (that I know of, that works this way).

However, that said, the game is really well done and fun!

They are pretty fun.  Think New Super Mario Bros only really really hard.  Like I said though, I'm not sure if it's the best match for a cab.... I can't imagine playing anything that movement sensitive on anything other than a d-pad.

The Saturn version is probably the best version. Unfortunately, MESS's Saturn emulation is still a sack of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, and for some reason, I don't think that SSF ever ran it.

I loved the original rayman on ps1.  I've played the latest version.. and was underwhelmed.  it didn't compare in graphic quality, nor as good of level design
& playability.

I refused to play the 3d versions period.

its not that hard lol. My stepkid had 975/1000 gamerscore for Rahman legends when he was 6.... (there's on achievement, the 11th level of awesomeness he's still working on its just a big grind though)
