Let's just say theoretically you had a playstation that could read burnt psx games. If you copied a psx rom of the internet onto a cd, would you be able to play it. Basically I guess the question is would the files in a psx rom be the same files that are actually for the game? thanks

first off this is very off subject and the iso police might come and confiscate your pc after reading this.
To answer your question yes and no. The psx iso image is essentially the exact game image that the orignal has, however the psx itself has built in copyright protection which makes it difficult to run burned or foreign games on your psx (most iso images are foreign too) In order to do this right you would need to install a mod chip in your psx. It requires some soldering so be warned. There's sites all over the net regarding this topic which could explain it much better than i could.

I have to add, the mod chip, unless they changed it in the last year and a half, will only work with the first couple of revisions.
The mod chip can be used to play japanese versions of games which you could purchase legally on a US psx.

No need for a modchip if your psx has a parallel I/O on the back. Get a GameShark or Game Hunter (foreign version of gameshark) that plugs into that port. With one installed, all you do is put a real psx game in the psx and turn it on. After the game is done spinning you replace it with a backup and press start. Voila! your psx is playing backups. Game Hunters can be had at lik-sang.com for real cheap plus about 10 - 15 bucks shipping.
I suggest not delving any further into this topic as it could lead to a sensitive area that would result in the removing of this thread.
