Hi Everyone, Just a quick question, the sound has gone off on my dads vintage record player it's a bush spr41, I bought a circuit diagram for it and did a few tests, the transformer has a smoothing capacitor is rated at 30v so I assume the output voltage is supposed to be a bit below this, there are a couple of outputs on the transformer see diagram below, two of them feed a 6v bulb and two of them go through two diodes I think that's what they are, I followed the diagram and put my meter on the chassis gnd where the black wire goes to and my red probe on the pink wire output from the transformer set my meter to 750v ac, but I am getting a reading of 58.9v double what I was expecting, does this suggest a knackered transformer or am I reading it wrong? also the transformer has some brown waxy stuff on the bottom presumably to stop the wires touching but it has melted off and is sitting underneath the transformer is that normal?
I'm not to bad at measuring dc voltage but not sure when it comes to ac
Thanks in advance,
Chris.
