Custom cursor
« on: December 04, 2003, 01:06:45 am »
Hey guys.

I'm waiting on the mail for most of the rest of my control panel controls to arrive, so I've decided to keep myself busy.  =)  Here are some custom cursors that I made up.  They work for win98, dunno about XP.  It was prety fun to do actually.  I'm the most proud of the busy cursor...  heh.  I'm thinking of making a pong set and a pac-man set.  Is there any interest out there for this kind of thing?  Any other games that would be simple, fairly well known, and interesting to a number of people that I might be able to do some more as?  No promises, but I'd like to have some options and...  well, it was kinda fun.  ;D

  Rename the attachment to .zip

Hey mods, I realize (after I posted this) that putting the zip file up with changed extension might be against the rules.  Correct me if so.  Thanks.  ;)

I hate to critique your work, but these cursors aren't exactly functional.  The pointer cursor needs to be, well pointer shaped so you know what you are clicking on.

I think they are a good start but they need more work.  :)

(For anyone who's wondering, before I got into this hobby I made custom 9X themes for approx 3 years, so I'm familair with this sort of thing.)

Actually, I made it that way on purpose.  This way I don't have to "hide" the cursor on startup of windows for my MAME machine -- I just get the animated space invader for that portion then go into mamewah.  I should have mentioned that, I guess I assumed they wouldn't be used for general windows purposes.  :)

I can update the set to include icons with pointers though, no problem.  I'll do that tonight.

  Thanks for the feedback!

  edit:

Oh yeah...  The mouse pointer for the current set is in the upper left corner, approximately where you'd expect it to be for a standard pointer.  It's not right at the edge of the left space invader antenna, but it's just off the base there.  For the half-busy wait it is the same.

Okay, here are some mouse pointers to go with the regular and animated cursor.  Feel free to give me feedback on if these work or if I should do something different.  =)

Same as before...  rename the .txt to .zip
