There's a huge difference between the time reversal in Superman and HP. I can't get into it without getting super, super nerdy - but trust me lol ;D

Says he doesn't want to sound nerdy...

Oh and Norton's Hulk, the military injected the spec ops dude with some serum that I believe was based on Banner's research. But it was only meant as an enhancement to agility, strength and self repair/healing. Pre-heat the gamma oven to 350F and bake for 30-60 on-screen seconds. Voila! Abomination cake (just add frosting).

...immediately changes his mind.  :lol

The biggest difference is that in HP the both timelines always happened.  Nothing was "reversed".

And yeah, the ending of the 70's Superman was weak, but there really has never been a better attempt at Superman in the movies. Superman 1 and 2 are still the best in the franchise, even if they are both flawed. The casting was perfect - Superman, Lex, Lois, Zod, Jor-El, Perry White. Each character was caught at their essence. It was fun to watch and didn't have the brooding seriousness that everyone seems to think every Superhero flick needs to have these days.

Despite its flaws I still like watching Superman 1 for the reasons you mentioned.  Reeve and the other cast members (beside Kidder) are fantastic.  You really need to re-watch Superman 2 though.  I remember liking it better than the first one when I was a kid.  It really does not hold up as an adult.

I used to never be a fan of Margot Kidder as Lois, but then I saw the last couple Lois Lanes. Meh. Amy Adams was ok.....ish. Funny that Teri Hatcher seemed to have pulled off the best Lois since the 70's. I think Kidder's Lois was written stupid from time to time, but honestly the only thing that really bothered me about her was that she sounded like she was going to cough up a massive hairball at any given moment.

I always thought Kidder looked like a dude in drag.  "Why is Superman saving this particular transvestite?"

Meh, it was such a glaring mythos destroyer she did away with them in a subsequent book.  As tired as we all are of hearing the "if someone invented time travel then why hasn't someone gone back and killed Hitler" stuff, it really makes you wonder why they didn't just roll back and snuff voldemort.

It has been a while since I read the books but as I recall there was no going forward.  So if you go back you are forced to relive the past until you catch up.  That being said I agree that time-travel (and shape-shifters for that matter) is a very cheap plot device.  It usually is a red flag to poor writing.  Terry Brooks has spent several recent books with the main antagonist hiding in plain site as a shape-shifter.  Very lazy writing.  Rowling was smart to close that loophole.

Couldn't agree more.  I hated Kidder BITD but has she has grown on me ever so slightly.  I don't think I've liked Amy Adams in anything I've seen her in especially Man of Steel.  Hatcher was pretty good and had great chemistry with Dean Cain.  I didn't watch all the episodes but I seem to recall the Lois on Smallville being very good.

Correct, on both accounts. Bear in mind that her past-self didn't disappear - she simply existed twice in the past. Her past-self would ultimately continue the loop (of rewinding) and her present-self would live on as a single entity, albeit older. She would have to continue aging when rewinding, thus aging "twice as fast" in that particular loop. I'd have to re-read, but I also believe it was eluded to that destiny could no be altered - that is to say Dumbledore couldn't have gone back and altered Tom Riddle's past because he was destined to become Voldemort. As an aside, when rewinding, the book has her "split" from her past-self at the same location that she was in the past - whereas in the book she just rewound at the same location.

Go ahead Ginsu, I know what's coming  :'( :lol

Well, gee, gosh, I don't know.  Find a volunteer that will warp back in time and round up all the trustworthy people that Voldemort is about to kill, say, hey, guess what, you're all dead next week unless you take this, warp back a few years, and snuff him for me.  Then chill for the next 13 years, betting all your gold coins on the super bowls you already know the outcome of, and enjoying a Voldemort-free 1990s.  Maybe head to Seattle while you're at it and stop grunge before it can start, too.  Paradise.

Even romantic comedies have an antagonist, be it the bitchy mother-in-law, the overbearing boss, or that ex-girlfriend/boyfriend who gets in the way.

Bad guys: the actual robbers, The judge a little, the opposing attorney and Marisa Tomeii's biological clock?

Hmmm, ok, I guess I'll give you the actual robbers but they were not in the movie (sorta).  The rest were just doing their jobs with no ill will or just to be ---Deutsche Frankfurters---.  And I'd take one for the team and try to help Tomeli's clock.   :D

Yeah, but those are usually more just engines of comedy rather than a real antagonist as far as the main plot is concerned. Not really Bad guys  either. Crap like: - Oh Silly Grandma! She interrupted the couple just before they could share a kiss. Offer those cookies some other time!! When will they have their special moment now?? -

Many of those movies the only real antagonist is the inner conflict of going against the odds and "taking a chance" on that special person. Yawn.

I'm sorry, 70s Superman was awesome just for this sequence.

Yes, these rose-colored glasses are tinting my view, but so what? 6 year old me thought this was the best thing ever, and 40 year old me doesn't argue.

Bonus: The "Say Jim" scene is one of my all time movie quotes.

And as I rewatch it, I realize what I miss about those types of Superhero movies - the sense of humor, the wink of the eye to the audience. Oh well. Last SH movie I saw was The Avengers, and it was fine. Maybe I'll see the next one. Meh.

Would have been better is if after he got her and the chopper, and everyone started cheering..... if he then flung her down, tossed the chopper after her and then started shooting laser beams everywhere.....

after everyone stopped cheering and started panicking, if he flew off and got them both and was like "just kidding"

That's someone's fanfiction out there, I just know it.

I love all the humor in the scene... the way it starts with the phone "booth", the pimp (he's listed as such in the credits), "you've got me, who's got you?" line... that's what I love best about that film.  I was never really into comics or superheroes  (I was a Star Wars freak growing up), so all the rest doesn't really bug/excite me.

As opposed to metaphorically?

Reminds me of a fan-made Captain Planet comic floating around the net about a decade ago. The planeteers summoned captain planet without that kid with the "Heart" ring, and Captain planet appeared, but was a complete ---tallywhacker---. Immediately started killing whales, and then flew off to go clubbin'.

after everyone stopped cheering and started panicking, if he flew off and got them both and was like "just kidding"

That's someone's fanfiction out there, I just know it.

Did you ever see Don Cheadle as Captain Planet?
