19 or 25 inch crt?
« on: April 05, 2014, 10:57:03 pm »
I've gotten pretty good with mame HLSL and have been happy with my LCD, but have been thinking lately about experimenting with a crt for my vertical games.

To that end I am trying to decide between a 19 and 25 inch crt to dump into a midway cab for my vertical games.

Did some research today and went to a local arcade to play on a 25th anniversary pac machine with a 25 inch crt.

Am I the only one that thinks 25 inches is too big?  I found myself unable to view the entire screen at once, and I felt like I was sitting at center court at a tennis match.

Would appreciate any input.

Thanks

Malenko

The first couple of times I played one of those 25" reunion cabinets I really wanted a 25" vertical machine.   With TV's bigger is usually better.  But like you said it can be very difficult to see the entire screen at once.   Personally I like 25-27" for horizontal and 19" for vertical mountings.

Definitely a 19 incher.  I experimented with a 25 and 27 inch before I built my pacman cab and they were just too darn big.

That's always my go-to vertical shmup for showing off a rotated monitor.
