Anyone use Romcenter? Need some assistance.
« on: December 03, 2003, 12:51:01 pm »
I recently downloaded romcenter and have attempted to get it running.  Basically, I want to use romcenter to check which MAME roms I am missing and also which artwork (flyers, marquees, cabinets, etc.) that I am missing.  I have downloaded all the dat files from the romcenter website.  What I am wondering is how do I now run the scanner so that a report can be written on what is missing or have sheet?  I seems like it should be simple, but I cant find the simple scan function in the menus.  Also, each time I open romcenter, it runs through the MAME 0.77 dat file and it take about 3-4 minutes before I get to the actual program.  Is there a way to avoid this so that I can just get right to the program itself?  Is there a different approach in using romcenter to find the missing artwork files?  Thanks for any help in advance.

You need to add the rom path for the DAT file that you are using by clicking the folder icon. Then refresh the list.

RomCenter loads the DAT file that you were using last, when  the program is launched so if you select a DAT file with a few games in it and no ROM folder it souldn't take as long to start. :)

DBut,

Thanks for the reply.  I have it working now for my MAME roms, but not for my artwork files (marquees, cabinets, etc.).  I have downloaded the dat files from romcenter and they are listed when selecting the dat file folder icon.  I select the dat file from the list and it automatically refreshes the list.  I have added a rom path that leads to the, for example, marquee folder, but after refreshing, the individual marquee images do not appear on the list, just the folder itself.  When I look at the report, it simply says marquees Have 1 of 1 because all it reads is the folder itself and not the images in the folder.  Basically, how can I get romcenter to work with the extra artwork files by using the dats on the romcenter homepage?  Thanks.

I have not used rom center for the artworks etc.
But I think I have figured it out. ???

You need to expand the folder in the left window as far as you can, and you should see the pic names in the right hand window (like with the roms). You can save a list of missing pics by using 'Save missing ROMS as' from the 'Report' menu.
