Mad Dog McCree Issue
« on: March 25, 2014, 12:11:33 pm »
Hey-
Hopefully someone can help me with this. I snagged the PC version of Mad Dog and it works perfect on my Windows 7 Laptop but when I put the DVD in my XP machine (for my cab) I get shot at the beginning of every scene. The game does not allow me to play the scene.  Anyone know why it is doing that? Is their a workaround for XP?

Thanks,
Robbie

Is it possible to rip it to the hard drive and play off of it?

Can you try running it from DosBox or any other Dos Emulator. Not even sure if it loads in dos but you can try that.

Hold up kids.... bad advice.

He just said he's using the dvd version.  Dosbox won't help, it's not a dos app, a hdd drip won't help because that's not the issue.

Long story short, the gameplay in the dvd version sucks.  What you probably want to do is download SINGE  (a daphne variant) and then have singe rip the dvd and play it that way.  You'll have a better, more accurate experience.

Could be something with your cab setup. Are you running a stripped version of XP?

Even if that's the issue, the singe version just runs so much better.  It's well worth it to make a rip.

Oh, totally agreed. I have that set up already for my eventual gun cab.

I'm not hating on the xp cd/dvd editions btw.... that's what I started out with and I'm looking at the collection on my desk right now.  It's just they were coded really really poorly... so much so that the codecs you are using on your pc can effect the timing and gameplay.  So it makes more sense to just skip that step and do it right.

Just installed the Singe Mad Dog Installer and went through the conversion process. It ripped successfully to my Daphne folder but when I went to the Mad Dog .Bat file to play I am getting a Daphne error. UGGGG.

Check the paths in the BAT file. I think I had that issue setting mine up.

I tried updating the script to the BAT file and now I get a frame.txt error and cannot initialize laserdisc error. After I received this error I updated the frame.txt file to aim the location to the "cdrom" folder which contains all the movie files. Still no go.

Does anyone have a sample script from their setup? I think I am going to reinstall and try again.

Let me see if I can help you out.

Folder structure.....  Let's say you have everything installed to "SINGE"

Ok in the "SINGE" folder you should have a version of daphne, and all of your launch bat files out loose in the folder.

In "SINGE/singe" you should have a bunch of folders and/or just a "maddog" folder

In "SINGE/singe/maddog"  you should have a bunch of png images and a bunch of ".singe" files.

In "SINGE/singe/maddog/cdrom" you should have all the m2v, ogg and .dat files.

I'm mentioning all of this because unlike daphne, you don't really get to choose where this stuff is installed... at least not easily.

For example, if you move the batch file, it won't work... it needs to be in the base folder.

Your actual bat file should look something like this:

@daphne.exe singe vldp -fullscreen_window -framefile singe/maddog/frame_maddog_cdrom.txt -script singe/maddog/maddog_cdrom.singe
