PC to Scart TV premade cables
« on: December 03, 2003, 08:50:43 am »
hello people
I've located a site in the UK that sells premade 15pin vga to SCART cables.
look at the following links

SCART - 15 PIN HD MALE RGB (Hsync & Vsync) 2.0M
http://www.keene.co.uk/cgi-bin/bigcodesearch.pl?SBB92H

SYNCBLASTER CABLE SCART TO 15 PIN HD SVGA 1.5m
http://www.keene.co.uk/cgi-bin/bigcodesearch.pl?SGB12

Questions - Has anyone purchased similiar cables and managed to get them to work on a standard scart TV/monitor (mines a BARCO 32")
Whats the difference between the two ?
Are they worth purchasing or should attempt to make one ?

Many thanks people, your help would be most useful.

Keep in mind you need either an ArcadeVGA card or software to force your current card down to 15kHz horizontal refresh rate for these to work (and not damage your TV).

Hmm... maybe not, at

Build yourself one. It wont take more than 15 minutes and the costs are minimum. I build one using a 5 meter long high quality vga cable (the thickest the better). Take a look at this webpage: www.jayma.org/mamescart/ It works perfect with my ArcadeVGA. The quality is the same as an Arcade monitor. Forget about converters and s-video. All those solutions are very poor in image quaility.

If you use a normal videocard you'll have to tweak it using Powerstrip or AdvanceMAME. Although it depends on the card, you may get it to work at 15khz, which is the horizontal frequency supported by TVs. However, you will probably face problems of synchronism. If you want an advice, by and ArcadeVGA. It's ready to work, and has many advantages since it works under dos o windows and has dozens of builtin low res graphic modes. I can tell you if it costed twice the price it is, I would buy it anyway.
