IT CAN BE DONE WITH PACMAN SO HOW ABOUT v.f.?????
« on: March 21, 2002, 11:28:45 am »
now we can edit pacman up and down left and right to look and do anything we want....changr the maze.....title screen text and so forth....

now I have a virtua fighter cab and i sold the guts before i new how to fix it...blah...but i bought a sega saturn to put in the cab to play it again...now back when pacman came out it was probably unheard of to edit it like we do  now......but we can now that is...
my idea is to copy the sega saturn cd contents to a pc...de-code them and insert a replacement file so instead of press start on title it would say insert coin...and then i would like to disable the pause function....burn this info back to cd and play in a mod-chipped saturn....i guess this could also apply to my dreamcast and so forth.........
i mena  hydro thunder daytona usa virtua racing....that would rock......... no?
i dont think that it would be as illegal as getting my hands on daytona usa arcade roms and using them but lets say, hey..i have the counsle version .. i just tweaked it a little...

if not saturn then dreamcast for sure in the near future....

anyone think that this is possiable????

???  well we have come this far..why stop now???

Great idea... but probably not the fastest/easiest.

Talk to the people who are tryign to emulate the saturn (but you might have to spend some time with babblefish to get anything they can read).

The will know the file format on the disk.  I wouldn't expect to cahnge anything other then images though.  Changing code will be a real drag.

For the dreamcast, you might get more information with the linux development system.  (ie, you might figure out how the files are stored and how to get them off the disk).

The easyest way to to this would be to start opening the files from the game using a hex editor and searchign for the string "Press start to....." if your lucky and find it simply change it to "insert coin" or whatever.  However if its stroed as an image not a string its gonna be a lot harder......
