How to get K7191 to accept 1 volt?
« on: December 02, 2003, 04:55:50 pm »
I'm plugging in my arcadevga card direct to the arcade monitor and was wondering where the pot was to have the monitor accept a 1 volt input?  Is it something I even need to adjust or will it compensate for the lower input voltage?

its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

Not sure where the confusion is..

I have a 7191 hooked up to the ArcadeVGA through a J-PAC, and as far as I know, the J-PAC does not have a video amp or anything of that sort on board (i.e. simple pass through).

So not sure why you'd want to play with the voltages..

The jpac in fact DOES have a built in video amp to raise it to 5 volts....

Original poster should get the separate (or make your own) video amplifier for 15 beans or so at ultimarc.com

I'm using an ArcadeVGA card with the wgk7191 monitor, and I never used a video amp.  I actually purchased a video amp a long time ago, but I never needed to use it.

Doh you are right JJ... most WG monitors do take either 1volt or 5volt...   although I found on an ancient WG it helped siginifigantly to have the vid amp.

*Shrug* so to the o.p. my apologies... you'll only need it if it is dim.  IIRC there isn't a switch to make it go from 1 volt to 5 volt per say... I've heard of people increasing the RGB drive controls across the board ... to compensate for the dimness, but I think that's not the best idea...

ok, I was just checking.  All my info indicated that 1 volt was ok but 5 V was better.  Thanks for the tips.
