Frequent syncing on tri-sync monitor
« on: March 03, 2014, 05:21:38 pm »
Hello everyone!  I have a Makvision tri-sync monitor and I run Hyperspin at VGA resolution, but when I launch a game I of course have it displayed in the game's native resolution (usually CGA). My question is... Do you guys think it will damage or shorten the lifespan of the monitor to have it constantly switch from VGA to CGA when going back to the menu to select different games, etc.?  It clicks over just fine and I haven't had any problems but I have often wondered if this was especially hard on the monitor....

i dont think it would cause problems as the monitor is designed specifically to be working in more than one resolution/screen mode. ie. its not like you are fooling the monitor into working in a way it wasnt designed too.
would be interested to hear other peoples opinions but it can be a little quiet around here  :)
