D9800 service mode

I have a 27" Wells  D9810 with screwed up colors on it. It failed due to some bad caps on the main board. replaced the caps and now the red drive is all screwed up. the OSD looks okay good but video input is messed. (red raster is appearing over the image but not OSD)

does anybody know if this has a hidden service menu like the 9200 did? (where you held SELECT and DOWN till the service menu displayed) not sure if it would even have one as there is an RGB adjustment on the OSD itself so it may not.

this monitor has a 5 button remote: menu, select +/-, and adjust +/- i've tried different combinations to see if i could get something to pop up but nothing.

there maybe something wrong with the neck board, just looking to explore every avenue before i start blasting this thing with parts.

schematics uploaded by yours truly some time ago for future reference. wells isn't too forthcoming with info on these...i think it was just because it was a last blast of CRT monitors before stuff ran out. no info on WG site at all.

at the back of your monitor should be these plastic philips head screws, these control color balance and contrast i think.

i would email wells gardner,there must be a service mode on that chassis
i expect it will be the same process as d9400 but for the life i can't remember how to do it

i had this same issue on one a few years ago,one of the background colours went max

the 24LC08 is an I2C serial rom, i could probably reprogram it with my programmer. (if i had the data)

i'l e-mail wells and see what they say.

ya u see where it sits ?
it is right under the crt
we call it static
latter units had foil over them for that reason,if your's has foil then it is a hit and miss
if it dose not then that is it
rca and zenith had the same problem

yeah that's a good idea ed, i have some aluminum tape...should probably cover it over. anything to keep this junk out of my shop.

The 9200 would apparently initialize with "reasonable" defaults if you installed a blank EEPROM.  The 9800 may, as well?

To enter the factory menu turn the monitor off. Hold the buttons 'OSD' and 'Key +' and turn it on. Thats it.
