ATARI 2600 Screenshots
« on: November 30, 2003, 10:03:53 pm »
I packaged 490 ATARI 2600 screenshots.  They are from www.atariage.com, 640x??? in PNG format, weighing in for about 3kb each, totaling to about a meg.  They use the Goodtool naming convention and match my romset.  If they do not match yours, try one of the artwork renamer tools that is floating around.  (Sorry I don't have the link and have never used the tool).

Here is a direct link to the screens:

http://www-personal.umich.edu/~stevebec/2600Screens.zip

They are also available on my humble site:

http://webpages.charter.net/rbecker5/files.html

Stuzza - Feel free to add the link to the screenshot download to your website.  I like the the new design of the site!  However, at first I was a little worried that your site vanished because my bookmark was broken  :-\.

Yeah, I completely redid the site layout to make things neater and easier to navigate  ;D  Please everyone update your links.

thanks again

did you go to atari age and download each screenshot for each game and resize them all.

i was thinking how it  might be neat to have shots of the box art for each game to maybe go in our  frontend screen (similar to the cabinet shots we have for mame) and was wondering what kind of time commitment we are looking at.  Id be glad to work on this but things are busy at work and it may take me a while.  So just wondering how you went about it.

Thanks

I only use screenshots with mamewah and do not use any boxart.  So I am not willing to make a boxart package.  However, I would be happy to host one.

atariage has excellent cartridge scans and box scans for about 3/4 of the games I had screenshots for.  Here is the process I went through to collect all of the screenshots.  It is rather tedious.

1. I had 2 windows open and right next to eachother.  They were my good named roms and the website.

2. I would do a single click on the rom file name and then copy it.

3. Then I would goto the corresponding screenshot rightclick on it and do a save as.

4. Next I pasted the rom filename for the picture name.

5. Repeat 1-4 490 times  :D

I did not resize any of the screens and I left them in the original PNG format.

Nope you probably cannot compress them much more than that.  What format are the images in?  JPEG images would take up the least space.
