Darker vertical bar on left edge
« on: February 02, 2014, 10:51:22 pm »
I've recently acquired a Neo Geo MVS cabinet (Brazilian). On the left hand side of the screen the image is darker than the rest of the screen. Everything that gets displayed there is darker. When the machine has been running for a long time, it gets a little better, but not perfect.

Here are some pictures (the horizontal lines are artifacts from the camera, they do not appear on the screen):

Do you guys know what the problem might be?

degauss the monitor?  Either use a degauss wand or put a PC CRT in front of it (glass touching) and turn it on.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

depends on monitor chassis but as you describe it getting better the longer its on points towards a leaky electrolytic capacitor

its not a degauss issue

Cap kit seems to be the patsy answer usually but in this case, yup.
Darker to one side, good indication of cap problems.
