Fake Refresh Rate
« on: January 29, 2014, 12:21:35 am »
Hi, This is an odd question, but here is the background.

I'm working on a cab with a cheapo 4k TV and the max refresh rate on that set is 30hz at 4k resolution. This is not a problem for MAME, but some other emulators (Fix It Felix and AAE) seem to be locked to the refresh rate and only play at half speed.

So, my question is: Is there any way to fake a refresh rate of 60hz? I have an NVidia card and I know how to setup custom resolutions and such. I wasn't sure if something can be done that leave the actual refresh rate at 30hz, but presents 60hz to Windows to fool the games?

I should probably post over in the NVidia forums, but thought I'd ask here anyway.

Cheers!

*sigh* Figures as soon as I post I figured it out.

Incase this helps someone else, you can disable the Vertical Sync in the NVidia Control panel:

Manage 3D Settings
- Vertical Sync - OFF
