MAMEing an arcade cabinet with IPAC-4

Hi all,

I'm new to all this so sorry for sounding like a newbie.

I just bought from a clearance auction an arcade cabinet that I want to MAME. I am planning on making a 4-player deck so I have pre-bought already an IPAC-4 to use as the controller.

When I opened up the cabinet yesterday I found that the arcade monitor had component video (don't ask me why but I was expecting S-video or component).

I guess my concern is that if I use the standard monitor out of my video card, will I have sync / res problems with the arcade monitor (as opposed to using the S-video out which should have automatically outputted tv-friendly signals to begin with)... is this the standrd way everyone wires there cabinet monitors? Straight to the monitor out of a video card and solve any issues in software?

My friend who has done this already (albeit with a J-PAC) got us both ATI RV100 video cards - will this card be able to produce tv friendly resolutions thru arcade OS (which looks like the way I will have to go unless someone knows another way).

I know there is a lot of questions in here, but if people can help on any of the items, it would be great.

Correction:

I was expecting composite or S-video, not component

I ended up with component which is where I got thrown.... for now

Umm, in general arcade monitors have RGB, sync + ground video or a VGA plug. Never seen one with anything other than those two (well, except the black and white ones, which have either a big square plug that has ALL the connections on it, or is just a modded black and white tv set).

What looks like a component in on it might actually be something completely different.

Try it with your VCR or old Atari before you try hooking your computer up to it.

Unless you are looking at a game with a projection screen monitor, in which case it might have some other connections.
