Slot cutter sizes question
« on: January 22, 2014, 10:31:05 am »
Hey guys quick question I searched but returned nothing. I'm going to order t-molding and I need some 5/8 for the cab and 3/4 for the CP. Now I already have the slot cutter for 5/8 t-molding, would I need to purchase a different size slot cutter for the 3/4 t-molding?

Thanks

According to the pic on Tmolding.com their 3\4" molding needs a 3\32" slot

While the 5\8 molding needs a 7\64" slot

So since you already have the larger of the 2 sizes it might still be close enough to the proper size and may work ( I would run a test fit on some scrap first to see if it would work before buying a new bit ) - You could also use a bit of wood glue when installing to fill the extra 1\64" if you find it is too loose to hold the CP molding in place if needed rather than spending the $20 for a second slot cutter - esp. if only building the one cabinet.
