Dead in the water Ipac shift help..please
« on: January 04, 2014, 05:52:03 pm »
Hey guys. Currently I am at my wits end.  I have built an entire mame cab and now I am at the part where I am trying program my ipac 2.

What I am trying to do is have NO shift function in the ipac.

The directions on ultimarc have been so difficult for me to follow...

Hit left shift on the keyboard to select a shifted code.
Hit Start2 on the control panel as this is the button you want to re-program.
Hit Print Screen to select a "null" code for the shifted code for this button.
Press "E" to save and exit.

Here is what I am doing:

I am opening notepad and launching the programming test mode..Easy.  From this point I have had no problem programming keys

Soooo.  When I follow the directions above it says to hit left shift on the keyboard.  Where should I be when I hit left shift?  If I am in notepad and hit left shift...the words left shft fly across the screen.

Can someone please explain to me what they do to null out shift?

Thanks.  I am at my breaking point  and feel as though my mame project has been for nothing

Have you tried the WinIPAC software?  You can change it to a key that isn't used at all via that software.  Here's a simple explanation:

Probably more threads about it.  Or Email Andy at Ultimarc but he's on vacation for a few more days.
