Mini bar in the arcade room
« on: January 04, 2014, 10:38:58 am »
I was able to convince my wife to let me build a mini bar in my arcade room.  I'm hoping to have it big enough to have at least one bar top arcade cab.

I am looking for all suggestions, do's, dont's and any input you guys and gals have please.

 :applaud:

Thanks a bunch all...

Might be easier for people to make suggestions if they had an idea of the floor plan and how many games you had to fit in there.

This thread by Maximus is a great example of the info you might want to include.

Actually, I just meant what the minimum dimensions should be for the bar top to hold a standard bar top arcade?  I do not recall ever seeing an actual bar top arcade in person.

AJ you gave up on your bartop?  Booo!  I don't know how many times I wanted to give up on mine but I pushed through and it was worth the headache.  It's nice to lug to a party and my nieces get a kick out of it because it is just small enough but not too big for them to enjoy it.

Bamboo you can also find additional information about the original weecade here.

How mini are you talking?  Years ago, Home depot had a can dispenser without a coin mech.  It was just outside of my price range and we bought a mini fridge for a 1/3 of the price.  Do you need running water?  Or are you just looking for can/bottle storage?

Im just looking for something around 4ft long, something I can put a minicab, some mockup draft handles etc.  Nothing huge.  I'm thinking maybe going with the mini fridge down in the floor behind the bar.  I have to cram 3 full size cabs and of course the mini bar into a 14X16 room.  It will be a little tight but doable without being too crowded.

Having running water/sink or electricity puts a different spin on things.  Out of the +200 options on wayfair I couldn't find the one I'd prefer.

Hopefully your space doesn't have the basement floor jack.  Really kills plans.

Well, my arcade room actually borders the guest bath and I can hook up water because the plumbing for the sink runs at the same spot.  You have any pics Eric?

Of my basement?  All the pics are of people in the basement, not of the basement.

Mini bars just encourage guests to come over and drink your booze.
