Author Topic: HELP: CRT_Emu_Driver + Radeon x600 = Match made in 15khz heaven? SOLVED.  (Read 2520 times)

HELP: CRT_Emu_Driver + Radeon x600 = Match made in 15khz heaven? SOLVED.

Hey community,

I recently got a hold of an x600 Radeon card to get working with CRT_Emu_Driver. I read positive things about it, so it seemed like a perfect fit for my needs. After fresh install of XP x64 and the 9.3 Catalyst driver I was greeted with this screen:



The driver appears to be forcing 800x600 resolution. When I select a lower resolution it results in a VERY scrambled screen:



To give a bit more background I had a Radeon HD 3450 previously. I had similar results which I ended up getting to work with Soft15khz. Also, due to the minimal pixel-clock issue I had to add a custom15khz file to add the proper lines for the card to work. Link to fix: http://cl.ly/1406162z2T41

I'm not really looking to use Soft15khz so that's why I selected the x600. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas to get this card working with CRT_Emu_Driver?

Hi stellarola,

Simply run VMMaker after the installation of the drivers, and then select 640x480@60i.

Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Finally got it up and running. Not sure if CRT_Emu_Driver or Soft15khz unlocked more resolutions. Either way, got it up and running with some 224p resolutions. YAY

Well, resolutions are not "unlocked" actually, although I've seen this expressed like this here and there. Resolutions are "installed", they are added to the registry with their custom timings.

Ah! I understand, it was more a figure of speech than anything. I went ahead and re-installed Windows again and got much more stable results. This time those same instructions you gave me resulted in perfect picture, no problem. Not sure why it hadn't previously worked.  ???
