Missile Command

Has anyone seen or can point me to a custom Marquee for Missile Command?

I'm looking for something normal shaped, not between speakers.

Don't see anything print-ready on the usual sites, but you can get some of the art elements here and a large copy of the original marquee on Joymonkey's site here.

If you don't have a subscription to Joymonkey's site, the attached marquee from MameLayPlus might provide a starting point.

You could probably vectorize it using the Vector Magic site.

Thanks for that, if anyone can get me a high res copy of the marquee I'd appreciate it.

I don't have photoshop skills, but I could probably knock something together in MSpaint.

I'll take a look at  Vector Magic too, as I'm getting quite good at Illustrator tidying up various CPOs that I've used.

I'm not very artistic, but I'm thinking there should be missiles coming up from left and right like in the game, and maybe explosions in the centre, above the Missile Command writing.

I like what Scott posted, to be honest. Simple, retains all the original elements. Good job.

I don't think he was suggesting that as the answer. Just giving me something to trace.

Well, if he wasn't, he should have. I hope you're not suggesting to stretch out those elements like that.

+1 for Scott's.

You're a tough customer. I thought you'd like it as I retained all the original elements.

Well, I own a Missile Command and am a fan of the original marquee. So that's why I probably prefer Scott's.

I mean, not every inch of the marquee needs to be plastered with something.

I'm beginning to like it, so much so I straightened the trails.

Now, how do I goad the good artists into doing better?

At least that one doesn't stretch the elements.

Credit where credit's due -- that image is from MameLayPlus.   :notworthy:

I figured that the center section would be a good starting point as long as you maintain the aspect ratio, but I'm not the guy to ask about artistic matters.   :dunno

At least that one doesn't stretch the elements.

True, but the "lawn dart" interceptors are all over and the placement/orientation of the added elements makes no sense in the context of the game.

In the original, four interceptors are rising from three unseen bases below the marquee and the attacking ICBMs are coming "over the horizon" from the right side -- THAT makes sense and fits with the game.

I agree. I was just trying to find something nice to say to Jimmer. Your Mamelay example is still the best.

I'd go something Like one of these to avoid the stretching mentioned :
