GroovyMame for driving cabs
« on: November 12, 2013, 02:12:13 pm »
Hi,

I've recently acquired an old Chase HQ cab that I want to get running with GroovyMame. Has anyone got a GroovyMame build with the option to disable the hi\low gear toggle?

Thanks

Thanks Calamity, no I hadn't seen that. Unfortunately though the link to download the binary has expired. I'll try sending a pm to the op, if not guess I'll have to wait until for groovymame151 as I assume the no toggle will be included same as the standard build.

Hi outrunner,

That patch won't be included in GM, I need to keep the patch simple enough. However it shouldn't be hard to use it in an up to date code base and build a binary with it.

Thanks Calamity shame you won't be including it in the newer build, I bet a lot of folk would like to use Groovymame in their driving cabs and it must be a popular option if they are going to include it in the official build. Guess I'll have to try and workout how to compile mame myself  :dizzy:

Think out aloud, does the switch have both NC and NO terminals?

Can you connect NC to one JPAC/IPAC input (input 1) and NO to another (input 2)?

Low gear position is switch off = NC (keyboard input 1)
High gear position is switch on = NO (keyboard input 2)

@outrunner,

I'm not saying the patch is not interesting, it is indeed. It's just that it is very difficult for a single person to mantain a big patch as GM is over a moving code base. So the best thing would to submit it to MAMEdev or someone to keep it as a custom GM build.

Thanks for the reply lordsnipe, I think the micro switch on the gear selector does have NC and NO. I'll give that a go.
