Ok so I want to use the background image from deviant art. I have the other layers done via photoshop, but I feel the background just looks too fuzzy. Now I know gxr bumped his up quite a bit and it looks great. Any suggestions on how I can fix this.

my cp is 48x12

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT

Well usually if you blow up an image to such a freakin huge size, its gonna get blury and theres not much you can do about it.  However you can try some Photoshop effects, such as Sharpen, or even try some of the artistics ones.  Many of those effects will make the image that was blown up look much cleaner.  Just mess around with some stuff, and experiment as much as you can, that's usually how I find the best stuff that I make is pure experimentation.

Try giving it the minimal amount of blur that looks good then play around with unsharp.

Using the Gimp I scaled that image using cubic interpolation to 48x36" at 300 DPI.   I then applied an IIR Gaussian blur with a radius of 14 and the resulting image looks good to me.   A radius of 13-15 seems about right, 12 isn't enough.

If you want, you can then play around with Unsharp Mask to bring back the vibrance of the original.

Here's a quick before and after from that image (300 DPI, 48" wide).
