Kawaks in mamewah
« on: November 20, 2003, 12:15:14 pm »
I'm having a problem with Kawaks in mamewah.  When ever I select a kawaks game in mamewah it brings me to kawaks gui screen... is there a way to have it go straight to the game and not the gui's game list?  Thanks in advance.

I have the exact same question.  There are a couple emulators that I use that have the gui's and I would just as soon bypass it to get directly to the roms when selected.  Any suggestion Minwah??
Hope we get a response to this from someone as it is a pain to have to go through so many screens just to get to the game.

I have never used Kawaks...does it accept commandline launching?  If not, that would explain why the GUI comes up.  Your only hope here is to try one of Howards wrappers - I'm sure there was one which could be used to generate keypresses/mouse clicks in order to navigate GUI's.

If that doesn't work you're stuck - many emulator authors just don't have cabinet users in mind :(

Unfortunately, it does not accept commandline arguments.  It is a very good emulator though.

Take a look at the freeware "AutoIt". It can send scripted key presses and clicks to another application so you may be able to write a script that "drives" the UI really fast to get the game started...

I checked out that AutoIT and it looks like that would be cool but I think it's way over my head.  I guess I'll just have to stick to having the GUI pop up and then select the game from there.

If you want to use MAMEWAH, and MAME neo geo support is too slow for you.. your only choice is nebula.. it support command line parameters (last I checked).

Good luck!

P.S. Is CPU speed the only reason you folks don't want to use MAME for Neo Geo??

I think MAME is great for the old school games and all, but I like the graphics options of Kawaks better and the main thing is the sound... I think Kawaks has excellent sound emulation... and the speed is also a deciding factor.

JoeB,

I would like to use Nebula with MAMEwah, but I am running into the problem with roms as Nebula only recognizes 50-60% of my Neo Geo MAME roms while MAME recognized all of them.  What are you supposed to do when Nebula doesnt recognize the roms?  Are there Nebula specific roms?  Shouldn't the roms that worked with MAME, also work with Nebula?
