138 in 1 jamma help..........games dont load.
« on: September 29, 2013, 12:02:18 pm »
I picked up a USED 138 in 1 Jamma Board, it's the one from here :
I say this based on the sticker in the image, which my board has also.

I know the guy I bought it from was told from the seller it was from here :
Anyway I installed this yesterday and every game I bought it for didn't load.
Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros, Rygar, Ghosts n' Goblins

Any ideas or help ? Am I S.O.L ?

Fishing online for info and did a post over on KLOV.
These boards arent thought too highly of!!
Oddly I've used many 48 in 1 and 60 in 1 boards w/o any issue.

Seems this could be junk and cust my losses.

So I took this board outside to my Final Fight cabinet (jamma) and the board works.
The few games I tested (that had not loaded prior) worked !
All was fine.

Checked the voltages all were good so I went inside to make sure my Popeye was good...the voltage reading was good.

I have no idea what would cause this to be the case, but simply put, 2 jamma cabinets, board works in one not in the other.

I'm still confused as to why this board would work in one jamma cabinet and not the other.
But I'm thinking it could be an issue with the harness, perhaps on the boards end it is not getting the correct voltage ?

I recall prior when I had Bad Dudes installed in the same cabinet when I would press P1 B1 (punch) it would trigger a PUNCH + JUMP reaction. I thought it was the lack of the -5.

The WWF Wrestlefest installed in the cabinet works flawless.

This 138 has been quite a bit of trouble.
None the less I adjusted the volume so that issue is solved.
I figured out my issue with respects to "coining-up."

However I've decided that I will sell my 19" CRT monitor from my Popeye and go the route of LCD.
I'll take the WWF Wrestlefest outside and keep that along with my 6-in-1 Jamma switcher in my Final Fight.
This will give some great extra life in Final Fight (a cabinet I enjoy) buy allowing me space for the extra boards.

I decided I would re-wire the Popeye and go LCD + PC type power supply and keep the 138 inside the house in my existing line up.
