Whoo whoo, more Bronze age games on the way.
« on: November 19, 2003, 01:54:22 am »
I just made deals for a Sprint 2 and a Taito Space Invaders mini.

That means I am going to have Sprint One and Two side by side in my living room! Too bad Sprint 4 and 8 are pretty much nonexistant these days, so I can never complete the set.

That also brings my grand total of Pre-Galaxian cabinets up to four, and my grand total of wierd cabs up to nine (compared to my 3 "normal" cabinets).

I am also going to be looking for a few more oddballs at the auction saturday. Most wanted titles include Turbo mini, Monaco GP mini, Asteroid (Midway 1973, not Atari 1979), Gunfight, Space Zap, Tank, Breakout, Avalanche, Night Driver, Shark Jaws, and Starhawk.

Of course knowing my luck there won't be a single black and white title there. I am mostly trying to get more black and white titles and minis because most of the cabinets I already have are black and white or minis.

here's 18 black and white games (some of which I'm sure you own already) nice way to fatten that collection  ;D

Edit:  purchasing these games may interfere with any social activities you may have, notifier (menace) does not accept any liability for the loss of wives, girlfriends (or girls you haven't asked out yet  ;))  Please game responsibly.

Yeah, I looked at that auction, but I decided that a large lot cheap of games from someone who sells games for a living is just a red flag item right there. I am willing to be they all have some fatal flaw, otherwise he would be fixing them and selling them. Plus it is a private auction too, another red flag.

Finally, the place is about 6-8 hours away. I would need a full size truck, and then the entire basement of my apartment would be stuffed with dead games.

And lastly. They would never all fit in my apartment if I ever did get them all going. I currently have the large bedroom filled with them. I sleep in the small bedroom (and there is no room for cabs in there anymore since I moved my comp in there).

I CAN however fit between 6 and 10 games in my living room before I would have to start taking furniture out. I really don't plan on going that far with it though. I HAD 5 games in the living room before I redid everything into a single gameroom, and I am going to keep that same limit now.

Can you imaging being PaigeOlivers buddy?  You'd have to screen ALL of his calls, just in case he was calling to ask for help moving.

"Hi, it's PO.  I'm moving tomorrow.  Free lunch!  Only 10 or so Cabs to move.  Cmon over!"
Well, that's where we go a-ridin' into town, a whampin' and whompin' every livin' thing that moves within an inch of its life. Except the women folks, of course.

there was an atari indy 4 (klov link)at the kc auction. sold for the large sum of $1, or maybe it was .50 cents. they auctioneer was begging for someone to buy it. i felt bad cause it was a cool game. if it wasn't so big i would have jumped on it. the wheels alone could have been ebayed for $20 each.

NO DOUBT - PO would definitely be on the "screen" list!  Ouch my back hurts already!

I must admit my friends are pretty good in that aspect. One of them is a fellow collector, although he only has a couple of games.

But, both my truck owning friends are non-collectors, and they have always been great about helping out. Although there was a bit of an issue the time I accidently bashed out the sliding rear window on Ryan's new truck with an Atari cab. I paid for it though, and he calmed down in a couple days.

Also, just made deals for a few more games.

Getting Turbo and Defender projects as well.

Ok, I never ended up getting the Biplane cabinet, but I did get the Invaders mini and the Sprint 2.

I also (through some bungling) ended up with TWO Defender cabinets, both with sideart. I am thinking I will make one into a Mame power multi-williams (with the Multi-Williams artwork), and take it to the next auction and use the proceeds to restore the other one into an actual Defender.

I'm jealous!  I played the crud out of Sprint 2 at Pizza Skiddoo as a kid...if I could buy any two really old games, it would be Sprint 2 and Starship I.

Well Chris, you might have the opportunity, I am going to sell one of the Sprints once I get working boardsets in both of them. Although I am very tempted just to get the Sprint 2 working and Mame the Sprint One. I am going to TRY to resist that temptation.  ;D

MAME a Sprint One?   :o

Is the cabinet set up in a way that you could do that without irreversible damage?

(It would be interesting to walk up to an ancient Sprint One cabinet and fire up a game of Cruis'n USA...)

I NEVER alter anything original. I don't even add buttons to panels.

If I did do that I would just pull the monitor, boards, and wiring harness, find a 23-24" color tv (a quick check of best buys website brought up a bunch of 24" models, but no 23" ones), to replace the original B&W 23" one, and wire the original controls up.

I have no qualms about Maming Bronze age cabinets. It saves the cabinets from the crusher, and pretty much assures their survival for the next decade or so.
