Non Timebo Mala - a 28" LCD Slim Cabinet
« on: September 16, 2013, 07:58:01 am »
Hello Everyone,

I recently completed my Virtual Pinball cabinet, so now it is time to rebuild my MAME cabinet. I had originally Half built a MAME cab in an old NEO GEO Soul Edge Cabinet, But the thing is MASSIVE!! It is just too big for our needs, so I have gutted it and will be building a new cabinet from scratch.

I am not sure exactly what I want yet, so I am still looking over everyone's previous projects. But I want something Slim and modernish. I have a 28" Hannspree Basketball TV that will be the screen for this and plan to use my two 8/4 way convertible joysticks, 7 buttons each and a trackball. I still have to get the trackball.

The current Theme of Non Timebo Mala, comes from my wife's favorite TV show, SuperNatural. It is the creedo so to speak of the two main people int he show. It roughly translates to I Will Fear No Evil. My wife may change the theme before I finish, but this is what I am working on for fow. Besides, it is only fair. My Pinball was based on my favorite show.. The Transformers :)

Progress will probably not start for at least a month, as I am still trying to figure out what to build.. But this should at least get my butt in gear and going.

I would LOVE to find a couple light guns that could be made to look like this....

This is my Pinball build if anyone is interested...

I don't think I have seen a Colt shaped light gun other then the ones for SNES but there has to be something.

Ultimarc has a light gun kit that can be fitted in any gun, it might be a little tight in a toy revolver barrel though. Maybe the lens could be re-located to the barrel while the main boards stay in the frame of the gun or handle.

Good luck

Thanks! I will have to look into that Kit. I am sure I could find an Airsoft model of an old Colt/Patterson ... Or at least something similar.

Of course Lethal Enforcers arcade and Nintendo Vs and Playchoice use similar guns as well. They pop upbon eBay all the time. You could put the AimTrak guts in those. If you do this, let me know, becuase I plan on doing the same.

Yea I have seen those, but they are not quite the look I am going for. I may pick up a kit and see if I can fit them in a real gun. If I can, I may buy a couple Umberti Patterson recreations and mod them up. I am also trying to get info from a Japanese company that makes an Airsoft Patterson. I have not found them for sale on any sites, but did find the company that claims to make them.
