Mamewah layout headaches
« on: November 18, 2003, 10:19:47 am »
It's official, I'm the only boob on here that can't figure out the new layout system for Mamewah..

Can someone post the file structure and nameing convention to make this work? I went through the .txt and can't make it happen..

In frustration I even yanked out every layout file and zip in the Mamewah dir and it STILL defaults to the same one (where the heck is this thing pulling the lay file from???!!!

When I save a lay file, and then open it... nothing..its not my layout, but the defualt..

JC ON A POGO STICK WHY DID YOU CHANGE SUCH A NICE A SIMPLE METHOD!!!!

(sorry)

your layouts should be in a LAYOUT directory under the MAMEWAH directory. One directory per layout.
Unzip the layout.zip file and it will create that directoy for you with a bunch of "classic" default layouts.

What I usually do is copy say the "classic 600x800" layout and rename it "My layout 800x600" (i.e. rename the directory) then edit that with the layout editor.

If you're editing the skin for emulator 1 you can name an 800x600 backgrounf JPG to "emu1-main.jpg" and it will become your skin's background, ect....   The naming conventions are in the layout.txt file that is in the LAYOUT directory after you unzip layout.zip

Hope it helps...

The last change was only simple naming of background images, which in all honesty is a piece of piss.

If you're referring to the \LAYOUTS folder structure, this was done because everyone wanted to have emulator-specific layouts etc., and this was the most logical way of doing it  :P
