MAME Resolutions using MAMEWAH
« on: November 17, 2003, 11:11:41 am »
I've just installed and run the resolution tool that sets all the default resolutions in MAME - and everything is as it should be, I'm really pleased with the results, as up until now, MAME was stretching images across the screen. Except that on vertical games, the bottom half inch or so of the screen is warped diagonally. This happens on Galaxian and Space Invaders (and others I'm sure). But on games like Galaga the screen is OK - no warping occurs. I guess that eliminates a monitor problem, and must be something to do with the resolution that those games are running at. I notice that they run at different resolutions to those games that are OK.

Does anyone have any comments on this? My thinking is that if I change the resolutions on the individual games where it is happening, to the same resolutions as those games that are OK, then this should solve the problem? If that is the case, could someone give me a step by step guide on how to force different resolutions on specific games running in MAME with MAMEWAH Frontend?

Many thanks

MisterB

aeroflott: check the thread entitled 'command line mame help', I replied earlier to the exact same problem...

MisterB:  The Resolution Tool will create INI files for every MAME game, in order to use the best available resolution for the ArcadeVGA card.  You can also manually adjust settings.  Basically, an alternative to the AVRES program.
