Seeking advice for Nanao MS9 repair
« on: August 26, 2013, 06:21:55 am »
Having some issues with the MS9 in my astrocity. The image on screen is very wavy and distorted, then goes to black after a couple minutes. I theorize that it might have come from being fed too high a frequency from a soft15khz setup. Could something like this be fixed with a simple recap?

thanks for any help.

The monitor is certainly old enough to need a recap.

Well, this all happened rather suddenly. Picture was very clear up until now.

I'll try a recap anyway and see how that goes. Should probably invest in a jpac to make sure this doesn't happen again.

I would also inspect the neck board and main board for the presence of bad solder joints.

Took awhile but I finally got around to recapping the chasis. It didn't seem to solve my problem so maybe someone has some advice on what to check next. Can't see any bad solderjoints anywhere. This all happened

I've taken a photo of what I'm looking at, if that helps.

also, it looks like I've flipped the horizontal video >_<

looks like video ground is missing plus of course you have reversed the horizontal yoke connector

Flipped the horizontal image back around, so that's solved. I've checked, and I'm quite certain that video ground is connected just fine. The pc running groovymame works just fine on a pvm rgb monitor too.

Maybe an IC was fried when being fed an incorrect frequency?

Sorry to necro this thread. Ended up trying the monitor in another cab and everything worked. Seemed to be a video ground issue. Rewired everything and all is well.
