Not my cabinet, but for a visual.Looking to do a "sell build" on a Asteroids Deluxe cabinet I got in a bundle deal. The cabinet is in such a shape that I could really go a few different directions in fixing it up. Not looking to keep, even though I like the style of this cab, funds are needed for other projects. So "marketability" is key.
So here is the list of Pro/Cons depending on your take:
- Wood is all intact with no water damage or farm-fresh signs of storage.
- Cabinet has been converted to Jamma.
- No monitor
- Control panel layout was changed to 2 players, one joy and two buttons each. But the players are in a "mirrored setup", 1P has their 2 buttons to the right of the joystick, 2P has them ton the left. Not sure how this detracts/ enhances the playability of any games getting installed.
- The current overlay (not AD) is breaking/pealing off, but I have some standard textured black I can use to freshen it up.
- Side art is peeling around the perimeter, enough so that I would rather re-cover the sides than try to salvage, even if it meant getting new AD side-art.
- Still has mirrored pane and black-light reactive shroud inside.
- No salvageable marquee, but has glass and light fixture.
- Original Bezel in great condition. Directions on bezel where covered by flat black paint and can be removed without damaging bezel, but not even noticeable unless looking for it (note: bezel in this game is setup for a horizontal display)
- No other missing hardware to speak of, coin door in good condition.
So.... I was thinking of cleaning up the cabinet: new t-molding, side art & marquee (style not chosen yet), standard black overlay, black paint where needed), install a replacement 19" screen (either mounted facing forward or in original position to shoot through mirrored pane) and keep as Jamma, in case the buyer would like to install a horizontal 138-in-1 board for something different than all the vertical 60s found on Craigslist

. Theme could remain Asteroids Deluxe for the side art, since there's no lettering (see pic) and I could get a set for $100. Could really use any multi-game marquee, even a Williams though some would call that sacrilege.

But I'm open to any other ideas. Not looking to throw a lot of money at this since it's missing a lot of original parts, and I haven't seen even very clean dedicated AD cabs go for more than 600-700, if that. Again, marketability.
Suggestions?
