HELP!!! Swaping CGA monitor in a small stargate and this is what I get

I am swapping out a cga monitor in an old mini stargate. The old monitor worked but had no color. The new monitor is only giving me scramble as shown. The monitors were not the same but with new brackets i was able to make it fit.  I am a technician on video poker games and only really work with VGA now so the whole sync concept is a little new to me. This game was givin to me and will be used for non profit in a youth center so please....help the kids out!!
