is it just me or do games look better on an arcade monitor??
« on: November 14, 2003, 12:28:28 pm »
i noticed a big difference in graphics on games play them on the arcade monitor and playing them on the tv or computer.

the tv makes it look way too clean like an updated SNES game.

while the computer makes you see the flaws of it..

then theres the real thing i didnt notice how great these graphics were 12 years ago.. now i sit here playing SF2 and crime fighters and wrestlefest.

i am amazed by the graphics on these game!!

anyway didnt anyone else notice the realism increase on these old monitors?? the difference is night and day..

also anyone who is lucky enough to own a killerinstinct board..i know you must be VERY impressed by the graphics..

and i know arcade games aint just all about graphics i just like to look at something pretty when i am playing a game ;)

Arcade monitors are designed for commercial use and generally use better grades of components.

Personally I like a s-video TV with smoked plexi. To me that looks good. Still your question is just an opinion question. Different ppl like different things.

Well my opinion is that an arcade monitor is absolutely breathtaking...

Then again I was practically born with 14-inch arcade-monitor like computer monitors in front of me (Commodore 128, Amiga).

The reason why arcade monitors look so good is because you are getting a pure RGB signal.. nothing modifies the signal between the video out and the CRT..  That's why it looks even better than S-Video!

You will get the same amazing results if you have a TV that accepts RGB input!

A lot is opinion, and model to model but generally, PC monitor's are too sharp and crisp, TVs with composite are too dull of faded, TVs with s-video or component and Arcade monitors are "just right".  (Let me repeat, the above general statement varies between different monitor models, and the people's opinions.)

Also, have you seen the Ocsar monitor review?  Nice "side by side" comparison pics.

Arcade games were designed for arcade monitors..  So it's no doubt going to look better (or how it's meant to be seen) on one.

Now with cup beer holders!

Lets not forget that on a PC monitor / TV (except Scart), you are generally not seeing the games at the correct native resolution.  So the only way to see it arcade-perfect is on an arcade monitor.

I think arcade monitors are light years ahead of anything else too.  But I have an arcade monitor + AVGA so I can say that  ;D
