Degausing coil???? Do I have one?
« on: November 14, 2003, 11:18:15 am »
I have an Ergo 27" VGA monitor (that many on the board have).  It has some 'issues' mainly in the top left corner having a color spot..

I noticed that there is a cord around the outside that looks like a degausing coil.

whats the chance there IS a degausing coil on it and I just don't know what button to push?

Last... where do you get the magnetic wire that you need to build the Oscar type degausing coil?

There isn't one on the Eygo, I have the exact same one.  I just went out and oredered a degaussing coil and it cleared up my monitor perfectly, I had pincushioning and discoloration "issues" in the top left and lower right corners and they went away immediately.

Pulled from another post

"The instructions were to take the corded drill (sans bit) and start about 6 inches from the monitor. Start the drillmotor very slowly and watch the monitor degauss. I was skeptical at first, but, it worked like a champ!"

Yeah, I tried that with mine, and couldn't get it to work.  I also tried doing it with a blender like someone suggested to no avail.  The degaussing coil worked like a charm the first time thru for me.
