Another new Centipede-bezel!
« on: November 13, 2003, 02:37:10 pm »
Not the last time we see a new printed Centipede-bezel these days - thanx to Justin for vectorising this piece of arcadeart! :D

Don't look to close at the inner cutouts though - I printed this on normal paper, stuck it on a sheet of polyboard and laminated it. This should last some years!

I have sanded the inner cutouts of the polyboard now, it doesn't look that worse anymore. Hopefully I'll get this build in this saturday.

Awesome!  I see you resized it to fit your monitor dimensions.

What printer did you use?  Did you manage to print on a single sheet of paper?  Also, how did you stick it on to the poly?

I assume you plan on putting this BEHIND your glass?  I cannot do that because I have tinted glass.  I plan on putting it in front, so I might as well just stick it on the glass directly.

Yep - due to the rotating monitor I had to make some changes :) Luckily the widht is nearly like the original Centipede where they had this big blue bezel between.

This was printed on a HP designjet 5000 (6 colors/600dpi) - a large format printer which can print even up to 50" width, so I ended with one sheet of paper.

For the poly, I laminated "stick-on-film" on the nacked polyboard. This is a bothsides-sticking-coating. Then I put the paper on it, laminated it all together clear, and finally made all these cutouts.

It doesn't stick that well on the polyboard though - without the glass above the edges'll peel off soon. I have greysmoked-glass too, but I'll definitely put glass over it!

To stick it directly on the glass, you could use this transofix mounting spray - of course laminating is a must, better use silk-sheen instead of high glossy. Putting it behind the glass sounds more comfortable for me though.

UPDATE Just forgot - I had to correct the colors at least on this equipment here at work so they don't look so greyish.

im surprised you didnt get the bezel art from arcadeshop.com as well - how/where did you get the vector art printed?

i hope that the sideart on my cab (when i pick it up) is ok and doesnt need replacing

Thanx!

At my old work we had large designprinters based on inkjet, so I printed it there for free. Unfortunately half of the staff including me got fired, so I have no chance anymore to do these again!

BTW, nice cab - like the restoration of an original classic cab!
