What to look for in old TVs
« on: June 22, 2013, 04:39:27 pm »
Hey all,

I'm currently using a 25" tube television as a monitor for my unit. I tried going S video to S video and the picture was horrible. I tried going S to RCA and it looks much, much better, but it still seems a little blurry and text isn't easy to read. I'm using just a regular video card with S video out. I also have a DVI port on the card. I'm using MAME32 plus plus .119.

So, it works, but it isn't great. I'm ready to try a different TV. There are lots that are the right size at my local Salvation Army store, but I can't try before I buy, obviously, and I don't think there are returns. Is there anything I should  be on the look out for? Like certain models or features that might look better?

Alternatively, though I assume my issue stems from the TV itself, is the blurriness perhaps due to something else? A setting or perhaps my video card? I'm not really sure what else to look for.

Thanks!
