getting in touch with wells gardner??
« on: November 13, 2003, 08:49:18 am »
I tried calling them, calls not returned, I tried e-mailing them--one e-mail was bounced other was not replied to...

What gives, is there a special way to get in touch with these guys???  Where else can I find original parts for these old monitors namely supremely odd caps.  i tried bob roberts but he wanted 8.00 to send me one cap... :-\  Any help??

Hmmm.....that's strange. I've never had a problem contacting Wells-Gardner. I usually phone them, though. I've gotten some pretty good prices on older parts by talking to them (parts dept.) directly.

Happ Controls stocks quite a bit of Wells-Gardner monitor parts. Follow this link: www.happcontrols.com/monitors/49125000.htm to the Wells-Gardner parts.

Thanks for the link--I guess I'll have to wait to order my parts until I have more need of happs stuff--hard to justify paying more for shipping than actual part.

You can usually get caps locally. Check your phone book under electronics. I regularly piece cap kits together locally when I need them "now".

Although really strange caps (big ones from power supplies and pinball machines) often have to be special ordered.

I have yet to find a monitor cap that I couldn't go into a store and buy local.

Also, remember you can always go higher on the voltage. You have to match the uf part, but the voltage part can be higher.

I've been looking locally for this bad boy and most people look at me like I have two heads:

.0061mF 2% 1600V polypropylene--I thought about combining 2 or three caps in series to get this value but rejected that, I'll just have to find some place on the net that doesn't charge 10.00 shipping for one tiny capacitor.

Have you tried the TV repair shop?
