Gauntlet Legends picked up for $60

Not sure what I am going to do with it. The biggest size LCD it will fit is a 27" I actually already have a 39" that I wanted to use for my first cabinet but found this and decided to buy it. It is completely gutted except for the buttons on the panel. I would really like to just make it into a Mame arcade with Hyperspin. I also would make some custom graphics for it as well.

Anyone have any thoughts?

That looks to clean to cut up and change graphics. I would keep it as is and MAME it. But you bought it so do what you want to do with it.

If you're asking about sideart/CPOs/marquees, the place to look is the Artwork Forum.

This post lists a number of sites you may want to bookmark for finding art files/printers.

I keep those sites and a few others in an artwork bookmark folder so I can right-click and "open all in tabs" to search tons of sites in just a few minutes.

I would cut a new top and put in the buttons/joystick the way you want. I'd probably leave the artwork since it's an original game, but wrapping it in your artwork could look slick too. I would change out the front glass to some tinted plexi, unless the glass was in good shape then I would tint it.

I decided to make it a Mario Kart cabinet theme as that was the only game me and the GF could agree on. I originally wanted to do a metroid theme but she never played that game. I agree both on control panel configuration and maybe some new glass.

As far as the glass goes any suggestions on what to get?

Oh also the top Marquee is folded down thats why it might look a little funny. It still has the original glass as well. but no graphics.

Yesterday I started stripping everything, Tmolding, Wrap, Misc brackets on the inside, removed the Control panel and striped all buttons and graphics from that as well. Next im going to remove all black hardware and give it a nice new black spray paint. After that will be new graphics, 27" monitor and control panel setup. I havent decided if I should go with a Lolo2 or iPac4 yet.

It hurts a little to see a game like that in that good of shape being stripped of all its original graphics but I dont doubt that it will look great with come custom graphics on it.

Trust me the pictures dont show all the flaws, scratches and graffiti that it had on it.

Ok I got her all stripped down today.



Next step will be the control panel. I havent decided on if I should just use the stock button locations or make a new one.

I know its your cab and you can do what you want with it,and you say it looked worse in person then it showed in the pics,but alittle piece of me died inside when i saw all that artwork ripped off the sides.

What he said, but Lew, you gotta remember that not all of us here are of the late 70s early 80s age.  To some of these guys Gauntlet Ledgends is a classic

Ok so I bought the NovaMatrix LINX marquee light from GGG

I was wondering what I need to power it? I am going to be using a computer so should I tap into the power supply some how or do I need to buy something like this:

I also need a way to power the coin release lights as well. Are there any other power supply options?

From the desc it looks like you should be able to tap your pc power supply.

Ya I just noticed they have an extra cable. I wonder if I can just steal a molex cable from another computer and patch into that and directly plug into the PSU? Im sure that is all the cable that they are selling on their website anyways. How about the lights for the coin drop buttons? Can I wire into a molex cable with these as well?

ok i got a reply back from tech support they said it is perfectly fine to patch into a cut off molex cable, so I will do that for my power. Got in a lot of parts yesterday, fixed the back panel that was broken on the machine and now I am waiting on my 27" LED monitor to come in. I know there will be other things that are missing but atleast I can start on the cabinet. I think Im going to rebuild the control panel as well. So I need to pick up a t-molding bit. Not 100% sure if I really want to start over on the control panel top or not but I was really hoping to have 6 buttons for each player.
