Name That Monitor Problem!! (please)....

Just picked up a cheap BBH cab and I'm having two issues with the monitor.

1) The colors are pretty washed out.
2) The sync on the RGB is not in alignment.

This is a WG 25K7191 monitor.

I've tried tweaking the monitor adjustments ... but there really is no controls for the RGB or degauss or anything. I've fiddeld with the RGB wires and conectors ... they seem to be fine.

Anyone have anythoughts on the likely culprit? Cap-kit? Wire-harness? Other?

You would have to adjust the convergence rings on the back of the tube.
It sucks though.
Usually the rings will have old glue on them that you may be able to line up and get close
As far as washed out colors, most likely a cap kit.

def a cap kit
and the purity converage problem is easy
un do the 1/4" nut holding the ring asmbley tight to the nck of the tube and move it slowley clock wise or counter clockwise until the converg fall's back in,once in place retighten the nut..go slow and careful as the glass is thin at that point on the neck of the tube,so do not over tighten the screw/nut

yes it must be on to reset the converg
u have to beable to see the screen
we in the trade use a mirror  and or a person holding a mirror for that part
once happy turn unit off and relock the converg mag

1) The f-ing glue on those were a pin to remove ... I ended up breaking the rings around the tube area ... so that sucks ...
2) I just noticed that the BLUE and GREEN colors are reversed in the game. Booting up the config shows all the colors are mis-matched because of this ...

any thoughts on this?

well the video connector/cable might be wired up wrong.  not sure if it would be the harness end or the video connector end, but you can swap the blue & green at either end and see if that remedies the color issues.  Do it in a reversible way, so you can undo the swap later if needed.  sometimes if you have a bootleg board the colors can be weird.  not reversed, but not proper, either.

For the swapped colors, just swap the pins at the monitor end.
You can pry the pins at the connector using a small jewelers screwdriver.

That sucks about the rings.

Colors swapped successfully ... very strange ... as for the rings??

1) The ring set looks like it WAS glued to the tub at one point ... the only method of movement was that the tabs could rotate clockwise or counterclockwise. HOWEVER, now the entire block slides (together) up and down the tube.

2) One of the tabs that allows you to rotate one of the rings is broken off ...

3) Also, perhaps related to the caps that I will be replacing, while trying to line up convergence ... I found I might line it up for a single corner, but the other 75% isn't lined up, then when I try to adjust it so that the other corner looks right ... the original fixed corner get's messed up ... ughh ...

If I cannot figure this part out, what replacement part would I need?

Also, to be honest, I'm not sure that you need a new set; as long as you can figure out where the existing rings go and find a way to stick them there for good, the existing rings will do, I think.

The rings are properly set according to each other, it's the whole convergence ring assembly that is moving.

kronic: what is the tube number?  You maybe able to find a suitable replacement tube.  The A34 number on this tube is what a tube number looks like:

though honestly they vary widely.

Put whatever number you see into http://tubular.atomized.org/ (using my example: http://tubular.atomized.org/#s/xref:A34AGT13X) or just let us know the tube number.  Maybe one of us can help you find a replacement.

Yeah. Find where it looks best and glue them down somehow.

I'm not a convergence expert, but there may be some convergence tabs you can tape down that will get you the rest of the way there.  It's the center you want lined up first, if I recall, then you use movable little convergence magnets on paper to finish it out the rest of the way.  Not sure.  Hopefully someone that's done this before can chime in.

I don't know about hot glue; localized heat like that may compromise the glass, I don't know.  If you can superglue back together whatever plastic bit broke, that would be best.

you can make the convergence strips I was talking about earlier (I called them tabs, but they're strips) by taking flat fridge magnet material and taping small pieces of them to strips of plastic.  there's a video on youtube on how to make the adjustments.

I had a tube that had a bad run of yokes. the plastic holding them in place gets brittle due to heat and break apart. I got things lined up and glued them up with some silicone and it's been good. (tried with hot glue, but the parts get so hot, it just gets soft and get out of alignment)

line that part back up on the neck (all the way forward) and see how the picture looks. if it looks good again, silicone it in place.

Just finished my cap kit ... but haven't turned anything on yet. After taking my convergence ring off, it's in pretty bad shape. Ideally I'd like to replace it. The monitor tube is A63AHC26X.

When I when to that site (tubular) nothing comes up for my number. Also, I didn't see any convergence rings at arcadecup ... but I'll see if they stock any.

I'm ordering some silicone glue, so maybe that will work ... but I'd really rather get a replacement if feasible. Any ideas?

for a 25" K7000 there are many TV's out there that you do not even have to change the yoke on.

if the yoke is within the tolerance range of what the K7000 uses change the connectors on the yoke and degauss and drop the tube/yoke and degauss into the frame, adjust your colors and image adjustments and call it a day.

i have done this with many a K7000 19" and 25" with no issues.
